WELCOME

Thanks for stopping by. I’m a writer and editor who specializes in producing home and design content. For the past 20 years, I’ve worked on staff and in a freelance capacity for daily newspapers and magazines at the local, regional, and national level. I’m now based in Minneapolis where I’m the editor of Mpls.St.Paul Home&Design magazine and a field editor for various shelter and lifestyle publications including Better Homes and Gardens and Midwest Living. My work has also appeared in The Dallas Morning News, Magnolia Journal, Traditional Home, and Do It Yourself. My daily work is an ebb and flow of scouting homes and gardens, writing and editing stories, formulating issue plans, planning photo shoots, assembling creative teams, visually packaging stories, and prop styling for photo shoots. At home, I tend to go overboard buying garden and design books, collecting too many houseplants, attempting to purge an overabundance of magazines, and creating and recreating vignettes. My happy place is when work and home passions collide, which is to say that they are difficult to separate. Much to the chagrin of my patient husband. What’s your story? Do you have a home or garden I should scout? Need a writer or editor or prop schlepper? Care to debate the merits of maximalism? Give me a shout: kelly.kegans@gmail.com
